Ladder in My Head

There's a window in my brain where I leave the pain
But the dragon is out and won't go back from where he came
While all the demonically led nations praise his name
I fear the world will never be the same,

Still, I exist within this orchestrated sphere
I've been abandoned by a jury of my peers
One thing that is abundantly clear
We are living in a morally corrupt atmosphere,

To the wives I've known all deceptively prone
What crumbles in the light of day when shown
Love so easily won and lost, the reason I'm alone
Beware bitterness like a poison vine can be grown,

An expedition into the unknown interior of lies
Leaves me determined not to compromise
Yet, the the sheep will listen to evil philosophize
They can't see the wolves creeping in so well disguised,

I knew you once before on this well-traveled road
The world held us in its perplexing mode
Funny how propaganda makes the mind corrode
Upon so many its false glory has been bestowed,

There's a ladder in my brain where I escape the insane
But it's so difficult to outdistance the rain
Please Lord don't let my efforts be in vain
Why are the liars always so well ordained?

She was the last and when she lied
Something deep inside me died
It seems to me the megalomaniacs have been dignified
As the freedom of the individual is denied,

Sitting alone in the night so dark
Groping for some redeeming spark
I think of what happened to Joan of Ark
Historic waves from history can be so stark,

Some are at work planning a dramatic exit
A fiery way to make sure their legacy is backlit
Not realizing their insanity won't make it legit
Like players in an insane scripted skit,

I began in life wanting to do what's right
Thinking I could trust her and she would hold me tight
The allure of these illusions seemed so bright
But my dream fragmented so I held onto my wits with all my might,

Was I just a fool uselessly flying my kite?
As though being stalked reality had taken a bite
Shattered aspirations made things seem so contrite
Words of wisdom be careful of what you invite,

Beware the Mistress of despair
In a world never intended to be fair
You've just stumbled upon the lion's lair
The clown show is just beginning take a chair.
