The year is 1996. Doctor Johnathon Reed is on a nature walk with his beloved Golden Retriever, Suzi, it’s a crisp morning on a trail near Seattle, Washington, and in a few minutes something is going to happen that will change his life forever. But first, let us move further into the future a few days and a phone call to Art Bell on his famous late night radio talk show. Thanks to the encouragement from Reed’s close friend, Johnathon calls Art live on the radio and explains to him what bizarre and terrifying event has changed his life!

After discussing the incident over the air, Art asks Dr. Reed to replay his recording of a shrill alien’s angry screams! The replay is terrifying and immediately convinces Art Bell that there is something to the story. Art will later have the recording analyzed for authenticity and it is a verified biologically produced voice that is beyond the realm of human reproduction! In other words, the scream was made by a living being and it wasn’t human! Dr. Johnathon Reed is soon invited on Art’s show for an interview. The terrifying incident is revealed and a massive audience is attracted to not only Art Bell’s show, but to the Doctor who is suffering from the effects of his contact in the woods!

Getting back to the original encounter, Johnathon is a few hundred yards down the trail enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. His dog takes off to go exploring and is up a hill close to the trail rummaging through vines and bushes when all the sudden his beloved Golden Retriever begins barking, growling, and then making the whining cries of a dog in pain! Something is attacking his dog and Johnathon follows the sounds of the struggle up a slope covered in ivy and fern. As he breaks into a small clearing he says a horrific sight. His poor female dog is being flung from side to side violently in the air and smashed down against the ground! In a panic, Johnathon finds a tree limb big enough to use as a weapon he can wield and goes after the creature trying to save his dog’s life. He takes a swing like a batter after a pitch and bangs the entity on the head violently! This knocks the creature down, injuring its skull, but his dog has disintegrated into dust!

The moment he strikes the creature he himself is hit with an invisible force that shocks him and causes him to go into hysterics! He has his camcorder in his car along with a thermal blanket that both come in handy! As the alien lays there on the ground he can see the open wound and blood secreting from the broken skull and tissue from the inside! But, that’s not all! Johnathon discovers what he calls “The Obelisk” which appears to be a gleaming black object more like an elliptical triangle than an obelisk! It is suspended in the air just hovering silently! The doctor is aghast! Perhaps this is what originally attracted his dog’s attention! An extraterrestrial entity has landed only to be detected by a dog that it attacked and disintegrated just before being clubbed and apparently killed by a bewildered and grieving Doctor Reed who was just out for a walk with his now deceased dog.

He is jittery, and in a state of physical shock when he unpacks his camcorder and begins shooting film footage! He is shaken and barely manages to take any clear footage. He then uses the thermal emergency blanket he has on hand and wraps the alien’s body in it, being careful not to touch the body of the creature. He doesn’t even know if what he filmed will be clear or undistorted but his microphone is on as well and one can hear his tortured breathing as he gasps while tying up the body with some back packing belts around the survival blanket. He is amazed at how light the body is when he lifts it to carry it back to his car. Thinking it weighs maybe 30 pounds. He must make his way back about a mile to his vehicle. From there he drives home, barely able to control the car in his dazed state of mind.

He then carries the bizarre bundle down to his basement where he begins taking more camcorder footage of the entity that he now unwraps. The photos are clearer and close up. Not looking like a typical grey alien, this entity has a skin of at dried texture with slanted eyes that almost appear human-like. The flesh is brown like the color of wood bark. It is clear that the wound on its skull was sufficient to cause great injury. After further examination, Johnathon wraps that alien body back up in the thermal blanket and stores it in a freezer. He then goes upstairs trying to recover taking a shower. Then calls a close friends begging him to come right away. His friend arrives and they talk, but his buddy can’t believe the story so Johnathon takes him downstairs to the basement and shows him the proof! Predictably the man is in shock! They return to his living room where Johnathon pours both of them a stiff drink and they discuss what he should do next! His friend tells Johnathon about the Art Bell radio show, and Doctor Reed considers it.

Now we move forward in time to the show and Art’s offer to help authenticate the amazing findings, but wait! How did Art hear the screams of an alien that Johnathon had recovered? It turns out, the following day after his friend had left to get some rest that Doctor Reed went downstairs to check on the body, thinking that maybe it somehow left the house retrieved by his fellow entities or that it reanimated. Well, it hadn’t left but when he removed the body from the freezer and unwrapped the thermal blanket, the thing sat up and began its high pitched shrieking so intense that its power pushed him backward and pressed him against a wall with an invisible force! The thing was angry at him! Johnathon had the presence of mind to record the screams as the entity vocalized its fury! This would be the recording that would convince Art Bell that the whole ordeal experienced by Dr. Johnathon Reed was real! This led to way to more interviews and scientific testing.

The entity did share some characteristics with the gray aliens though. A very thin line for a mouth and ears that were barely noticeable along with the diminutive size. How something this seemingly frail could mangle his Golden Retriever like it did, was a mystery. And what of the space ship left hovering in mid-air in the brush not far from the hiking trail? It disappeared! There would be a number of events to come that would prove even more disturbing for Doctor Johnathon Reed to endure.

In the weeks that followed scientific lab testing would bear out the doctor’s claims, from tissue samples, to voice analysis, to supporting eye witness accounts, but then there was the powers that be. An intelligence agency contacted Doctor Johnathon Reed enquiring about his experience, all the details, and in particular his photographic evidence. Johnathon would find his house ransacked by who we can only suspect! All this only contributed to the doctor’s mental and physical suffering as the saga went on. We are led to believe that when something like this happens that some kind of protection is afforded by Art Bell and his associates, the police, or perhaps civilian UFO groups, but when it came right down to it, Johnathon was alone to face the invisible might of an intelligence community that operates like a crime syndicate!

Even after having a number of seemingly friendly conversations expressing interest in his evidence, Johnathon first lost possession of the alien whom he had a number of conversations with before it disappeared, but then there was the confiscation of virtually all his evidence! All this culminated in Dr. Johnathon Reed suffering psychological trauma and illnesses related to the stress! Is there a moral to this very real series of events? Yes, don’t trust the government, don’t expect a lot of help, and find some kind of support for your findings even if they are officially rejected!

In the very last of this juncture to date, we have Doctor Johnathon a little worse for wear. A slight tremor that he suffers like many Parkinson’s Patients experience, as he leads us to the exact location of where he experienced the creature that attacked his dog and the “Obelisk” as he describes the spacecraft! It is sad, knowing what this man was subjected to but if we study what typically happens to UFO contactees, it’s never a good story.
