Sometime in the 1950's long before the Eastern European hacker group now calling themselves "Solar Wind" there was a secret group of UFO researchers who they called themselves the "Solar Wind" group. They were the originals. At a time when a veil of mystery and denial surrounded flying saucers and flying disks, a gathering of scientists who sought to conduct their own private investigations without the obstruction of official denial or public ridicule that could come with it. There were already civilian UFO investigation groups underway by such people as George Adamski and Howard Menger who were producing supposed contactees and strange photos of unknown aerial objects.

The inner circle

In his book "The Report on UFO's" by USAF Captain Ed Ruppelt speaks of a secret group of scientists located in California that privately did some electronic readings while undertaking some excursions into the countryside beyond the outskirts of Los Angeles. There while routinely taking Geiger counter readings and checking background radiation, two of the scientists had an impromptu UFO sighting of the classic dome shaped craft. While watching in stunned silence one of them got a noticed a sudden surge in background radiation until after the unknown airborne object flitted away into the distance. Fascinated, the two proceeded to make several trips to the area on their weekends off to see if they could replicate their findings and they did! Once again the UFO and then the spike in background radiation showed up on their readings.

Discretionary

I have little doubt that Captain Ruppelt could have been unknowingly referencing the secret "Solar Wing" group. For years to come members would come and go secretly sharing their findings and evading public attention by maintaining a low profile. Their tactics were like those of a spy operation. They were that discreet. One reason was probably maintaining anonymity for the sake of keeping their jobs, but they also ran the risk of being considered actual threats to national security as the US government had been infiltrating civilian UFO groups to see if they had accidentally stumbled upon some X-plane experiment or rocket test. Howard Menger's group came under scrutiny from Naval intelligence when they witnessed a new missile variant go off course and hit a road sign dangerously distant from the test site.

A bizarre introduction

Fast forward to 1989 and I am a single parent of 4 kids, running my own business, writing poetry and self publishing a couple of books before writing for a newspaper column, and taking a once a week night class from a elderly lady named Bonny, who was a psychic and a painting artist. Our goal was consciousness expansion and paranormal awareness. We must have dabbled in something that was either unholy or spiritually dangerous due to the fact I had a string of weird experiences that began as I took the classes. Bonny as a little girl had had a clairvoyant vision of the Pearl Harbor attack exactly one year 6, December 1940 before the actual event took place. When she got out of bed screaming that the Japanese were bombing Pearl Harbor her mother thought she was crazy. A year later both parents looked at their little girl and realized she had some kind of gift, but didn't know how to handle it.

A curious individual

Bonny, at that time was living in her own small 2 story townhouse alone. Weekly, she had a group of people over and we all meditated, used our collective consciousness for such things as getting psychic impressions about lost college coeds ( remote viewing) to see if they were still alive, or to see what the future might bring for America as a lot of strange things were happening. We even had some people who were terminally ill or suffering with chronic ailments who visited to see if there were anything we might do to help. She was a fiery little red head still surprisingly attractive for her age, but she had had a life full of disappointments that had worn her down. She told us of how she had been contacted by US military intelligence during the war to see if she could solve certain questions that they had. It is well known that the allies played an astrological game of chess with the Nazis, attempting to anticipate their next moves. NASA even consulted her about the composition of a heat resistant coating to be used during the Mercury program for their Atlas Missile as they were having problems with the outer surface of the rocket.

Silent contact

She spoke of her idiosyncratic correspondence with the group, "Solar Wind" which seemed to be winding down and suffering its last death throes as members of the group were old and some had passed away over the years. She was interested in their findings, or had they been successful in uncovering the truth that was definitely being hidden from the public by the federal government. There were some files she had gotten a hold of, but even as the group was in the stages of disbanding they were still reticent to release much of their findings. It was very strange. I almost got the impression that they had discovered something very serious or very important, but for some reason felt as though it were better left secret, which I found very confounding!

Final chapter

Unfortunately, being a single parent, running my own business, while my daughter's extracurricular activities such as select soccer and orchestra were underway at the same time I, missing many weekends and holidays working, began to make my attendance at Bonny's night classes too much to handle. Then, there were the very weird experiences I began having which made me suspect I had unwittingly opened the door to something I had no desire to disturb, but that's another story for another day!
