The date in July 2, 1952 and the US is in the midst of the biggest UFO flap in American history. In his book “The Report on UFO’s” circa 1956, Captain Ed Ruppelt, first Director of Project Blue Book describes a hunch he has that something big is about to happen and he is spot on! UFO sightings are reported by civilians, commercial pilots, military aviators, police, and others from coast to coast! At the very same time the infamous “Washington National” sightings where night after night unidentified radar targets are detected over White House air space and US Air Force jets are scrambled to intercept them.

However, let’s get back to Navy photographer, Delbert Newhouse with wife and family on vacation driving near Tremonton, Utah when they spot a formation of flying disks pass over their car! The Naval officer fumbles for his color film camera and manages to get footage of what look like a formation of unknown flying objects, self-luminous, and headed away from his position. This cannot be any natural event such as a flock of birds as Delbert estimates the speed to be that of aircraft.

Unlike Lieutenant William Patterson who will attempt to intercept UFO’s over the White House that very same week and yet we have no record of his debriefing by US Air Force Intelligence officers either because it was never declassified or is under some other unknown file category, we are fortunate to have US Naval Warrant officer Delbert Newhouse’s account of the UFO sighting. This is truly a historic event captured on film. It is rare indeed when we get to see the inter action of military intelligence and the actual witnesses of these incredible sightings.
