The widening Black/White divide:
A thin veneer of civility has been peeled away with the excessive Black vitriol resulting from the Zimmerman verdict.
The era of good feelings between Blacks and Whites, built up both during and after the 60-80's Civil Rights movement, was initially put to a test with the Black jury verdict on the June 1994 murders of two White people (Simpson/Goldman) in Los Angeles and the subsequent acquittal of O J Simpson.
However divisive this brutal double murder was, there was no long term diminished effect on the Black/White rapprochement until the year long Zimmerman case. Now a small but significant number of White and Hispanics are re-evaluating their opinions and concluding that they really do not like Blacks.
Our civilizing veneer is now peeling back and opinions are solidifying along racial lines. Blacks are protesting to an unwarranted degree the findings of a jury and Whites are reacting by re-evaluating their acceptance of such a radical Black dialog of condemnation of an entirely proper verdict.
The most obvious signs of this divide are polls showing that confidence in race relations is significantly down over ten years ago and also more visibly, the almost total lack of any White representation at the claimed 100 Martin rallies around the country.
A new era of strained race relations is now upon us and the previous almost solid confidence in a harmonious relationship between the races is now at an abrupt end.
