They Dwell in Darkness

Stay away from the darkness they say

Not so easy a task these days

The blackness doesn’t want to go away

They make demands of you but won’t stay,

The darkness infects their souls

They dig graves hiding death in deep holes

They play a number of different roles

They devour goodness like red hot coals,

Officials who should care

They appear human but they’re just not there

Demonic in nature they spread despair

They are mankind’s nightmare,

They worship the absence of light

They thrive in a thousand midnights

They must keep their atrocities out of sight

Struggling against decency with all their might,

In a world saturated with human drama

They precipitate all the trauma

Their assault never ends no period no comma

They would abort a baby before it can say “Mama,”

Retreat from the darkness and into the light

Time to fight the humanitarian fight

The good fight you know is right

Just as Jesus gave the blind sight,

The darkness wants to topple us all

The fools and criminals having a ball

A government that would rather you crawl

The grim reaper and I had a brawl.
