My countrymen came to destroy you. I couldn’t stop them.

You burned on television.

So I said something.

I said what was wrong, how you hurt, how you were in agony.

I gained so much.

I traveled all over the United States while sewage ran through your streets.

I visited countries in Europe while you were bleeding out.

I got 5000+ Facebook friends; you got 5,000,000+ displaced.

I got a fan page; you got more than a million murdered, and if we add that to the 1-2 million murdered by sanctions we break the 3 million mark. But this is not newsworthy.

I stayed in hotels; you were poisoned for the next 4,500,000,000 years.

I was reimbursed for expenses; your treasures were stolen.

Americans are officially leaving you alone, though thousands slither through your streets, speaking words of “peace” and “reconciliation” and “civil society initiatives” with forked tongues.

I did not stop your pain. I did not stop your suffering. I did not stop your destruction.

America destroyed you, and now claims victory.

I’m sorry, Iraq. I wanted to help you. I didn’t know how. I don’t know now.
