Thoughts on a Valentine's Day
Forgive me with all these thoughts I have to say
It seems sentimentality has gone astray
All those memories of us just seem to fade away
You made up your mind that I could no longer stay,
It's just another day It's just another day
That's when the Devil came out to play,
Your indifference well noted when I prayed
You never thought I understood you anyway
Those years together that we betrayed
The time is gone to feel dismayed,
None of us escape from life unscathed
Those quiet times in the same tub when we bathed
Knowing there was some other life you craved
Still you were always disappointed in the way I behaved,
It's just another day It's just another day
That's when the Devil came out to play,
Though I cried and begged to come back and stay
I hadn't noticed you'd already moved away
Birds fall from the nest and succumb to prey
Should I dive into that icy bay?
It's just another day It's just another day
That's when the Devil came out to play.
