In 1692 in the small coastal town of Salem, Massuchusetts mass hysteria broke out among the Puritan believers that the community had been overrun by witches. The actions of three young girls brought about one admission of guilt by a slave woman and 2 other townsfolk who denied they were servants of the Devil. Yet, we have conflcting accounts and the typical revision of history trying to explain the Witch trials of Salem as being the actions of greedy officials using any means necessary to steal estates of those they envied, young girls suffering from undiagnosed epilepsy, or simply the paranoia of religious zealots!
As in the past so as in the present
For a year the inquisition continued with such time as 19 people were hanged, one man was crushed with the weight of rocks, those who languished in prison awaiting trial died there, and other suspected witches were burned at the stake! We now know that there indeed were practicing witches then who participated in copulation, blood rituals, and even baby sacrifices! For one reason we know, that even today we see this going on by the Hollywood eltitisists who, according to several actors, take part in these ghoulish proceedings to gain power, prestige , and more publicity to further their careers. In 1692 Salem, those with a thirst for gold and power secretly took part in such satanic ceremonies.
Through the past darkly
Historians tend to write off the paranormal events that took place at Salem in 1692, yet even today there are devilish occurrences that happen without explanation! Police have witnessed these events just as the citizens who report them. There is an active witch community of young and older women who now publicly perform rituals they would have been hanged for in 1692. So, how do we know that actual hauntings and demonic possession occurred in that strange, dark, time in our past?
Proof in the courts
If one were to examine actual records of court proceedings of the time as local judges presided over Common Law trials the mysteries that cannot be denied indeed were recorded by then court reporters, scribes, or barristers who witnessed these ghastly manifestations! Remember too that city officials were being pressured to uncover the witches identities who, in turn, pressured the three young girls who displayed symptoms of demonic possession or were under control of the witches they were seeking to unmask. Were innocent people sentenced to execution: undoubtedly, were there actual witches? Most definitely!
What really happened?
In an excellent Halloween documentary made years ago, actor Vincent Price as the host, reads newspaper accounts of the time about what went on in Salem. According to witness testimony, the gutters of the streets ran with the juices and rendered fat of those being burned at the stake for being witches! The losing proposition of being accused only led to torture until one confessed resulting in a death sentence. Use of the rack, drownings, and even the whipping post could be expected in order to bring about confession of witchery. It was a regrettable injustice, yet according to many witnesses there was satanic activity in the community that had been discovered! As in all legends and myths there always is a grain of truth!
Frightening events
During the course of the trials the three young women underwent inexplicable physical changes that clearly demonstrated demonic possession. According to court records one girl when being cross examined vomited mouthfuls of hair pins! How any one could hold them in their mouths much less eject them from the throat would be impossible yet those attending the trials were aghast at what they saw! Crows or Ravens, considered even today as being harbingers of death were seen all over town and somehow got into the courtrooms flying around the ceiling and swooped down upon those in attendance as proceedings went on.
Was this the work of satan?
As the poor slave woman who admitted she was a witch was cross examined the young girls mocked her! If she bit at her lips the young girls would draw blood biting their own lips, shuffling their feet, and speaking in tongues no one could comprehend! Were these the actions of the girls being pressured to serve as witnesses or were they really under the influence of the undiscovered witches amongst the townspeople of Salem? Secular analysis using science tends to dismiss what Catholic Priests will attest to nowadays as they still conduct exorcisms and see the effects of true evil.
Present Day Evidence
In modern day Salem we see a community of witches who feel quite comfortable in conducting satanic ceremonies in public, threatening to curse those they do not appove of. On the Science Channel a recent incident clearly shows an unnatural event that can be linked to witchcraft. Often cats are either sacrificed or embodied with the spirit of a demon during satanic rituals. A filmed record of a dead cat's body is encircled by wild turkeys who walk around the carcuss in a perfect round formation and parade unceasingly. Puzzled scientists attempt to unlock the puzzle but cannot. This is an unprecedented reminder of spiritual blasphemy. Yet, this is one of many purported abilities of witchcraft to conjure the command upon the elements and animals with the powers of the Devil.
Even today
In the ancient graveyard where once living townfolk who were accused of being witches now lie buried for deeds they may or may not have committed apparitions are often witnessed by tourists or citizens there at unholy moments. The legacy of Salem and its witches lives on, but not just as a tourist attraction, but as a town that continues to suffer the paranormal influences of the past! It is wise to consider that all who make a pact with Lucifer will suffer in hell for whatever shortlived pleasures they may achieve in this life. That debt will be paid! In this age of vanity and demand for immediate gratification there are many among us who would foolheartedly make that pact.
