US to Announce ‘Permanent Military Presence’ in Australia

New Deployment Has Something to Do With China, Officials Insist

by Jason Ditz, November 10, 2011

The Obama Administration didn’t get the permanent military presence it sought in Iraq, but they are reportedly on the brink of announcing a new permanent deployment in a rather surprising place – Australia.

Opposition figures within the Australia government say that the announcement will be made next week during President O..., and that the US will begin deploying Marines to the nation’s Darwin military base.

@ rt, That's an interesting observation about Germany. I know the feeling well - it's definitely NOT the country we grew up thinking it was.

This is a re-enactment of Germany's invasions in WWII and the takeover of eastern Europe post-WWII by Russia except this is the US.  You can call it "soft" or simply strategic, but country after country is falling prey to the U.S. neo-cons, the Banksters and the money-junkies.  Exactly where the "top" of this food chain is...I don't know.  I suspect it is somewhere in London, but its claws extends to Washington, the UN, Brussels, etc.  The pathetic thing is that the majority of Americans have NO idea about what is happening inside our borders and outside our borders with are 900 or so US military bases on foreign soil.  The religious right is cooperating, in effect, with this aggrandizement whether they are aware of it or not.  The strongest lobby in Congress is Israel, and I fear we have become nothing but an agent for that evil nation....accomplishing with our soldiers (men, women, husbands, wives & fathers) what they themselves need not do....destroy their enemies.

This is NOT the nation I thought I had grown up in.  Our economic and political system, sorry to say, needs to collapse in order to create world peace.  An America 2.0 would hopefully rise from the ashes and a new direct democracy would be formed as, clearly, a representative form of government is NOT working (TARP and the bailouts being the most obvious example).  We have the computer technology to create such a government.  The seniority system and the committee system works AGAINST democracy.  My two Senators and my Congressman  are totally worthless in my eyes....all show (the one exception being Ron Paul).
