Waiting?
What am I waiting for?
Love to come kicking down my door
Free merchandise from the local store
Wishing I had given a little more,
Time spent in pursuit of the past
Impressions gone forever that will never last
As though some wicked spell has been cast
Never thought my country could be destroyed this fast,
Trying to dream away the tragedy at night
Trying to impart some kind of wisdom with all my might
The future seems painted with uncertainty and fright
My bed adrift at sea until dawn’s early light,
What am I waiting for?
A government to save me that’s rotten to the core
I can see the bodies of troops floating on the shore
Holographic images diving into the floor,
What am I waiting for?
An end to the blood and gore
The arrival of my savior
The end to the suffering of the poor,
What am I living for?
Pleasures and thrills galore?
For my wounded spirit to soar
To live under the illusion of folklore,
Listening to the whispering wind
Tell me just one person who hasn’t sinned
When they find me please notify next of kin
Waiting in a world that lacks compassion.

cheeki kea Wow thank you! You just made my day! Yes, I intend to get some of this material in a book content collection and I'm glad you liked Captain reality. Thank you so much Dear! I may even go live on YouTube and read some of my work, but not Tik Tok. Thanks again you are always a breath of fresh air.
excellent poem - in a moving yet humble fashion. If you ever publish a book of your collections that would be a fine one to consider along with some of the Captain Reality selections, and the memorable abstract contributions that you pop up sometimes. Something for everyone out there.
