In June this year a predicted dramatic expose’ on UFO’s was to be announced. For months even preceding the Biden Administration the supposed revelations about the elusive UAP featuring the F-18 Hornet gun camera footage of strange objects performing death defying high G maneuvers that would have killed a human pilot were being advertised. Even Rob Schmitt on News Max TV had devoted a whole week to covering the mystery as a potentially deadly oversight by the US military who had not taken UFO’s seriously enough. As one expert had put it, the lack of military interest could have resulted in the biggest intelligence failure since 9-11. Was this just a distraction from what the Biden White House was up to, or just an over dramatization to sell views and audience interest? It seems that nothing has changed in 70 years!

Has the US military really failed to take UFO’s seriously? Let’s take an historic look at statements made by high ranking officers and generals concerned over whether or not UAP’s posed a threat to national security.

1. 1947 General Nathan F. Twining states that flying saucers are not imaginary or hoaxes and have the capability of high performance able to out maneuver our best fighter aircraft.
2. 1948 Navy Missile Commander R. B. McLaughlin at White Sands proving grounds, admits in a Life Magazine article that high speed intelligently controlled unknown objects were tracked coming into the upper atmosphere by White Sands ground crews. According to Captain Edward Ruppelt McLaughlin is ordered on Arctic patrol duty as a result.
3. 1947 FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover is outraged that his organization is being left out of the loop after receiving a teletype over the Roswell recovery of a crashed disk at the Dallas office.
4. 1949 Doctor Lincoln La Paz, an expert on meteors is hired by the USAF to determine what the cause of “Green Fireballs” over the skies of New Mexico could be. After months of study, La Paz states that they are not a product of nature and that their trajectory is similar to an artificial craft of some kind.
5. 1948 Lord Dowding head of aerial defense of Great Britain during the Luftwaffe’s attempt to bomb London into submission, the man who defeated Herman Goering quoted as saying mankind’s next greatest threat would come from a civilization from another world.
6. 1950 Project Mainbrace, the largest Allied naval maneuver in history is baffled when the supposed unauthorized release of a weather balloon turns out to be a UFO. General Eisenhower on board a flagship is awoken and notified. He remains awake drinking coffee and monitoring the situation in his PJ’s at the command center as search efforts are conducted.
7. 1950 Donald Keyhoe Major USMC retired and former pilot was convinced that the USAF was hiding information about UFO reality from the public. His organization (NICAP) comprised of US military and intelligence officers had sources within the Pentagon.
8. 1952 Captain Edward Ruppelt, WWII bomber gunner and flight engineer authored the book “The Report on UFO’s” circa 1956 made repeated observations that the USAF was frustrated and outclassed by a phenomenon that they consistently dismissed or blamed misidentification as the cause of.
9. 1952 Army General John Samford holds the biggest military press conference since WWII in Lieu of the Washington National Sightings over forbidden White House air space, stating that though a large percentage of flying saucers are weather targets, misidentified conventional aircraft, or hoaxes that there were a small number of fantastic sightings that went unexplained, but that there was no evidence of purpose or threat to national security.
10. 1957 General Douglas Mac Arthur in a farewell speech at West Point echoes the sentiments of Lord Dowding saying that an extraterrestrial enemy could be mankind’s next great nemesis. Interestingly in 1943 amidst reports of “Foo Fighters” in the Pacific Theater of war launched the first known investigation of UAP’s by the military predating both Project Grudge and Project Sign. Mac Arthur commences the Interplanetary Phenomenon Group.
11. 1960 In a New York Times Article former Director of the CIA and Navy Admiral, Roscoe Hillenkeoter, warns that UFO’s are real and the practice of dismissing the phenomena is a foolish and dangerous policy.
12. 1965 In a Time Magazine article General Benjamin Chidlaw of Strategic Air Command states that to date 3,000 attempted intercepts of UFO’s occurred over North American air space causing more than 18,000 accidents and a loss ratio between fighter pilots and UFO’s of 1 to 1.
13. 1966 General Curtis LeMay WWII Commander of 8^th Air Force and head of Strategic Air Command admits in an interview that concerning UFO’s there were things that could not, would never be able to be explained.

In examining these historic statements and paraphrases on the subject of UFO’s by Generals and high ranking officers with the best intelligence apparatus in the world, do they sound unconcerned about UFO’s as not being a threat to national security? How about the gun camera footage by the F-18 Hornet pilots and their seemingly amused attitude when they discover that they are being outmatched by an unknown aerial phenomenon, are their attitudes really appropriate?

The only thing that can be said about all this is that either the disinformation value of UFO’s served as a great way of hiding X-plane experiments, but even then the concern was that a lackadaisical appraisal of UFO’s could serve the Soviets quite well in the event of a “First Strike” scenario. Also with the untimely deaths of several officers and scientists involved in the UFO controversy, was that just speculation too?
