Whatever Happened?

Life goes slowly by

One lie after another lie

Pretty soon you’re tongue tied

This is where the Unknown Soldier died,

Now life is full of doubt

No escape for the devout

No one seems to have enough clout

Too many fools don’t know what it’s about,

Oh cold hearted idol who rules the night

And all the unclean spirits that you invite

The world no longer distinguishes wrong from right

As pagans worship by moonlight,

Whatever happened to this world gone insane?

As persecuted heroes try in vain

This is an interlude between hope and pain

I thought the demons had been momentarily tamed,

A tired poet drifts in the ether

No longer beneath her

The new monster without any features

People murdered by medical procedures,

Once I thought there was a away

But fate won’t give you the time of day

This bed of nails where I lay

The darkness that continues to stay,

Had I known before I ever started

How much I’d miss the sadly departed

As I now explore waters uncharted

The treason they commit so heavily guarded.
