What is life but a temporary place?
We think it’ll last forever but we won’t leave a trace
Nothing but an urn, or a grave, in a quiet place
Some leave it in honor some in disgrace,
But what happens to those who take their lives?
Using a poison, gun, or even knives
Last saw him going out for a midnight drive
Now his progeny will never thrive,
There’s a kind of silence that consumes
A sudden impression that settles over a room
Like the eeriness of an ancient tomb
Death snatches us away from the womb,
Me, I don’t know anymore
Like scavenger birds along the shore
We’re are not prepared for what comes through that door
Once the ritual blood is poured,
Holding the little one as a baby
Could he every commit suicide hardly a chance but maybe
If only he’d had the attention of ladies, ladies, ladies
Instead, feeling like a dog with rabies,
Where does the desire for life go?
When the need to have hope and love are at an all-time low?
That’s when life has lost its glow
When futility overcomes everything we know,
Taking your life, but not just from you
You took it from everyone you knew
From our memories our hearts and a sky once blue
Hard to believe it was your own life you out grew.
