Where Have I Been
There I was and I plunged right in
All self-righteous and full of sin
Not thinking twice about the mess I’d be in,
Now looking back on where I’ve been,
It’s a miracle and it’s a wonder
Overwhelmed by passion and plunder
Never thinking twice about such blunders
All the emotions that have torn me asunder,
As ruthless as the long impending night
No kisses left or being held tight
The ghostly illumination of moonlight
The only friend I have in sight,
You try to find where you belong
Even when it seems everything is wrong,
It all seemed right when I was such a fool
She was my love not just a tool
But scorn becomes a burning fuel
Death I become with no renewal,
It used to be so easy without a mess
Almost sinfully it seemed careless
Blood spilled out of selflessness
I was slain by my own seductress,
Children, don’t go down this road
The illusion will smite you five fold
Fleeting ecstasy for agony untold
Footprints of the monster now foretold,
You try to find where you belong
Even when it seems everything is wrong,
It all seems such a simple song
Long before she came along
If only you’d been a little more strong
The attack on your heart so prolonged,
You try to find where you belong
Even when it seems everything is wrong.
