(NaturalNews) By now it should be fairly obvious that President Obama and his sycophantic followers seeking to "fundamentally transform" the country don't implement public policies willy-nilly. There is almost always an agenda behind everything this president does – an agenda that has little to do with improving the country and everything to do with changing it.
In that vein, one of the most important issues to Obama is guns and, more precisely, how to get more guns
out of more hands without looking like he's overtly violating the Second Amendment – even to the point of violation other parts of the Constitution, such as provisions requiring due process, especially.
In recent days most Americans learned that Obama issued a
string of executive actions, actions he claims are necessary 1) because Congress "refuses" to act (as though Congress
has to act); and 2) because, you know,
public safety.
As I reported Jan. 6, one aspect of Obama's new anti-gun actions will empower to actually report gun owners they only
suspect of being mentally ill to the FBI's firearms background check system. Eventually, these unfortunate Americans will not only be deprived of their due process rights, as noted in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, but, of course, their Second Amendment rights as well.
The diabolical part of all this is, Obamacare sets the stage for substantial numbers of Americans to eventually be declared mentally unstable and, thus, ineligible for gun ownership.
Was all this part of some master gun control plan?As the president's recent executive action
states:
The Administration is committed to improving care for Americans experiencing mental health issues. In the last seven years, our country has made extraordinary progress in expanding mental health coverage for millions of Americans. This includes the Affordable Care Act's end to insurance company discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, required coverage of mental health and substance use disorder services in the individual and small group markets, and an expansion of mental health and substance use disorder parity policies, all of which are estimated to help more than 60 million Americans. About 13.5 million more Americans have gained Medicaid coverage since October 2013, significantly improving access to mental health care. And thanks to more than $100 million in funding from the Affordable Care Act, community health centers have expanded behavioral health services for nearly 900,000 people nationwide over the past two years. We must continue to remove the stigma around mental illness and its treatment - and make sure that these individuals and their families know they are not alone. While individuals with mental illness are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators, incidents of violence continue to highlight a crisis in America's mental health system. In addition to helping people get the treatment they need, we must make sure we keep guns out of the hands of those who are prohibited by law from having them.De-stigmatize mental health so they can take more gunsSo in other words, the Obama administration plan including removing the stigma of mental illness so more Americans would seek "help" for it, only to be swept up unwittingly on the back end by new
gun control measures aimed at keeping firearms out of the hands of supposedly unstable people.
That's not to say that someone who is truly crazy should be armed, per se – but there is nothing in the Constitution that permits the government to make such determinations when it comes to who can and cannot own a firearm. Federal courts over the years have established parameters and Congress has passed legislation to restrict felons and other members of society from having firearms – but by strict reading of the Second Amendment, the "shall not be infringed" part, none of these carve-outs should ever have survived constitutional muster.
If you think that the
Obama administration is just trying to "do the right thing" with its mental health gun control carve-out and that liberal doctors and the federal government won't abuse the designation by making it overly broad, you've not been paying attention.
