The time of 9:50am ET came yesterday, and went. The world is, at least for now, still in one piece.
It is easy on one hand, as I was last night on my
Facebook page to mock and be critical of that "rickety time machine" Cliff High and George Ure speak of. (I linked what I called a "fail" to a skit done by Rowan Atkinson and the late Peter Cook some 30 years ago about the end of times.) We live in an age of instant gratification. Things either happen, or they do not.
My advice: wait for it.
For starters, the events going on in our world here in the latter part of 2010 are lined up like a stack of dominoes. Knock one down, and you knock down the bunch. The who, what, where, when, why, and how part of this will be eventually written into history and become part of some evil trivia question in the generations ahead.
My personal guess is this whole TSA debacle and how it could awaken the consciousness of the American people that is the event the Bots speak of. Homeland Security has a slogan it trotted out to the American consciousness again today: if you see something, say something. A perfect post-script to this is apparently this: if you see the TSA doing something, sit down and shut up, slave!
I hope the day comes soon that our society puts down the reality TV and the phones that do everything but put cream in your coffee and take a stand against this nonsense. Our government would fear a sleeping giant waking up. Time to give them what they do not want. RESIST.
