Within my Dreams

The crystalline gate to the world of dreams

Launched from my bed or so it seems

During the day living by humble means

But at night come the nocturnal schemes,

Talking to angels hovering in space

Finding momentary happiness in this ethereal place

Cosmic tears disappear without a trace

As though God actually touched my face,

A sanctuary not meant to last

It will be gone by the light of dawn cast

As though St. Elmo’s Fire just lit the mast

Still there’s a universe out there within my dreams,

The lack of love during the doldrums of days

Within my dreams I go unphased

So many starlit visons I’ve faced

It’s here I could disappear without a trace,

An escape form the waking day’s melancholy

Leaving it behind as if everyday concerns are silly

Sometimes the terrain is misty and hilly

That’s when I forget about how she left me,

Oh star studded enchantress who rules the night

Let me stay forever I’m tired of the fight

Enduring the daylight with all my might

Simply awaiting those mystical dreams to take flight,

There was a time when I had hope

Without those dreams I'd be at the end of my rope

A cosmic method of finding a way to cope

Gliding over a starry mirrored slope.
