Wonder Why?

Its 3 am I should be asleep but instead

I'm drifting to Etheria in my bed

Where are you but enough has already been said

I hope by now all my demons have fled,

Entering a dark canyon as I come about

From the distant stars I hear a celestial shout

The outcome for mankind in doubt

On the battlefield of dreams there's been another rout,

Elusive recollections that persist of childhood

A playful existence and of brotherhood

Where dreams and fantasies once stood

How I’d change my life if I only could,

This nocturnal vigil in the stillness of the night

Few of us can comprehend the other’s plight

The struggle for truth the endless fight

No one knows the difference between wrong and right,

The disturbing revelations that drift in the dark

The indignities and betrayals that have left their mark

Inspiration and hope, where is that spark?

Have you ever felt like an exiled monarch?

It seems reality is shared by a meaningless few

World leadership has gone completely askew

Sorry, but I won’t give the devil his due

Insanity has now become the new world view,

With Christ and Satan in an all-out brawl

Everyone forgot that pride comes before the fall

I can hear sounds of laughter coming from way down the hall

Arabian horses kicking at their stall,

You can worship your monolith on Phobos before an asteroid strike

Wonder why untested vaccines cause a fatality spike?

Wondering why you and your Doppelganger look alike?

There was a time all a child wanted was a new bike,

Under a foolish notion that love would save me

That women were noble and would set me free

More likely I am to face a burial at sea

Perhaps then at least I’ll be free,

Here’s to the fighting men that died

Just because too many believed in the “Big Lie”

Raise your glass raise it high

Far too many who will obfuscate and deny,

My little world afloat in the wee hours of introspection

In moments of toxic introspection

Seeking some kind of cosmic connection

The dark has obscured my mirror reflection.
