If you are inclined to believe that democracy will function justly when "the right people" are elected, then bear in mind that each political party is elected precisely because its candidates are regarded as the best people available by the majority at the time. Look around you at the people who are elected, and look at the actions of these people. This is your democracy, and the destruction and domination occurring under its imprimatur are the natural consequences of the view that the desires of the mob should override the rights of the individual.

Im just wondering about that whole Bathseba affair....
if Samual's son's thought differently to their father - perhaps they just had the revolutionary ideals of transformation and reconstruction , easier then to let them -and so us think they were "greedy , perverts of justice and takers of bribes" ... now that would make the mob feel better - being that they were saved by an honest and caring King :)
far reaching? just examples of mob rule.....mobocracy....
your examples are far reaching Tom :)
...and are a help in revealing the true extent of this ancient and most sickening cycle of repetition - that to this day promotes and utilises the same old tried and tested fear and propoganda as an aid to manipulate the people into perpetuating the process of submission to slavery .
Someone long ago, I forget whom, explained to me the dangers of democracy. He used two examples from the Bible and I have never forgot what he said...
1) The Hebrews were no longer content with the system of judges that their god had put over them and DEMANDED a king..they got Saul--democracy in action
20 Caiphus instigated the mob in Pilates courtyard to demand that a murderer be released in the place of the prince of peace--democracy lead by religious leaders in action.
For a picture of an early form of Communism/Socialism...look no further than Joseph ruling Egypt just below the Pharaoh....
