Your Dark Bedroom
What is the point of it all?
There's love and then there's the fall
You gave her every bit of your heart
But she hurt you from the start,
Divorce is the death of love
It reminds you of the push and shove
You thought it was what dreams are made of
All that's left is a bloody glove,
The one you trusted tells all these lies
It seems her hatred never dies
Even angels in the heavens sigh
As you sit in your dark bedroom and cry,
"Why can't you just get over it"?
She says looking as if she is going to spit
Can't you see Darling I'm in this blackened pit?
This old world no longer seems to fit,
Who gave you that heart of stone?
Yes the one you seem to own
You're forever doomed to roam
Because you'll never find your home,
You say you pity me
I'm so glad you're so damn happy and free
While I brood on bended knee
Dead souls float out to sea,
Trying to remember the last time I laughed
Seems the human race gave me the shaft
Looks like Satan has refined his craft
While the whole world has gotten daft,
There was once you and I my Dear
But that all changed as you made it clear
You were always driven by fear
And for us I shed a tear,
Go ahead and believe those lies
While easily breaking all family ties
You can have all that money buys
But the wound only increases in size,
Changing lovers like changing sheets
Seems like life belongs to all the cheats
The smell of the rancid bars where they meet
Marriage seems like a battle ended in defeat,
A lifetime of regret
All those things you haven't done yet
You think I'm so far in your debt
I guess you just made a foolish bet.
