Your Smooth Silken Skin
Knowing I’ll never completely be the same
Even though I could easily point to you as the blame
The time I wasted in anguish shame, shame, shame
What is love and life but a pathetic game?
I’m sailing down the wrong highway I know
Just ahead of the pursuing regrets and woes
Drinking whenever the pain grows
As the battlefield of life flows,
Imagining the life I had before
There were breezes and sea gulls by the shore
I wonder who could have asked for more
Wondering what I wanted all that pain and suffering for,
You treated me like a door mat on the floor
Is this what God teaches lessons for?
Somehow I thought love meant so much more
You just had to bring your miserable world through my door,
Trying to be Mister Good Guy I tried to sympathize
Tried to heal you and normalize
You never cared much to philosophize
But you sure knew how to victimize,
Now I’m a flickering candle in the wind
Been burned real good for all I have sinned
For all those atrocities for which I’m akin
All for the pursuit of your smooth silken skin.
