Having dedicated my life to being a career Wildland Firefighter since 1975 I am saddened and angered that any "firefighter" would allow a fire to burn someones home.
No matter what jusisdiction or payment plan is in place they had a moral duty to the community to perform their job safely and professionally.
The mainstream debate was about govt vs private fire depts. But how could firefighters stand by and watch a family's home burn to the ground without lifting a finger to help put out the flames? A national firefighter's association has condemned this dept for failing to put out the fire, good for them. And Beck was just showing his true colors, shame on him.

I guess I need to watch BECKENSTEIN speak, to comment correctly.
The FD in question was actually a GOV. operation, not a PRIVATE one, according to sources multiple.
This stiory is on at least 5 of the 'usual' sites that I visit daily. Rense has 4 or 5 postings, from various sources, to name ONE.
It reminds me of the book 'Farenheit 451', by Ray Bradbury.

He apparently didn't pay the usury fee of $75.00, and the oligarchical supporters are posting comments akin to THIS:
'WELL, if he didn't have HOMEOWNER'S INSURANCE, is he going to sue a random insurance company!'
'He took a chance, and gambled with NOT paying his dues, and he lost.'
Let's see:
LOCAL, CITY, STATE, FEDERAL taxes all paid, but the 'usury fee', due to 'county cutbacks', wasn't 'up to date', so the fire-guys saved his neighbor's FIELD, but didn't live up to the oath of protecting PROPERTY, LIFE, AND LIMB', from the FIRE that also killed, apparently, 3 of his house pets.
HOW does it feel, living in AMERIKA, as of October 2010?
