Makes you wonder why the credit card companies don't issue the scanner shield with the credit card.

Thanks for the info, Anti. My dog's chip doesn't transmit but it is inserted under the skin. It requires a reader which the animal shelters and vet's offices are equipped with. The rescue organizations are required to go along with the animal shelters' rules if they wish to keep adopting from there. It's heartbreaking and it's one of those situations where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Pheeww fingers crossed nothing happens to her, only 10 - 20% of pets are affected anyway.
The bad thing is you can't take them off once they're in that's it.
Farmers had a big thing about them years ago, most of their cows were getting cancer right on the spot where the RFID chips were inserted, well then they forced the manufacturers to make inactive chips CCIA Approved RFID Tags.
These are used externaly only, and they're not transmitting a signal. When you need to read them you put the reader on and the power of the radiation wakes them up for a couple of seconds.
Anti, that goes without saying. But in the meantime, we must protect ourselves from identity theft. I got one of my dogs from a rescue organization and they already had her implanted with a chip because that's what the animal shelter requires. That was 8 years ago and she is in good health. It's an emotional issue for pet owners esp those who have lost a pet. I doubt a vet would remove it since they are the ones pushing it. What to do?
Hey Nikki, I was hoping that you'd say get rid of RFID chips,
let's not forget that they cause cancer to our pets.
Need to get RFID blocking sleeve protectors.
