Independent candidate, Marianne Williamson, fights to represent California in Congress

New York Times Bestselling Author Marianne Williamson wants to shake up Congress by becoming the House of Representatives' only independent member. Williamson is one of over a dozen candidates seeking to replace Representative Henry Waxman (D -- Calif.) when he retires in January. One way in which she sets herself apart from her competitors is by proposing a "Department of Peace" to develop non-violent alternatives to America's problems typically addressed through use of force. RT's Ameera David had a chance to speak with Williamson about what she hopes to achieve if elected.
