Chris, much as we agree on MOST if not all, you're WRONG on this my friend. I have PERSONALLY flown the globe, seen the curvature, continents pass by. Having circumnavigated it myself when young-flying 20+thousand miles in a STRAIGHT LINE blows Flat ANYTHING out of consideration. PERIOD.
To think otherwise, based upon microscopic evidence is, well silly. Consider a drop of water suspended in vacuum. Is it flattened ? No, it forms a perfect circle every time. Such is Earth in space, as it coalesced.
If THAT doesn't convince you, well I'll lose quite a bit of respect.

The curious thing is I have been a surveyor for 25 years and never hat to do adjustment for curvature, even on kilometers long shots. I also talked to many guys from different divisions, railways etc. Same observations. Here is an curvature calculator for your consideration :
