Thanks Greg & LiveFree for your comments. I would like to know more about this Civil Flag if anyone has more info. I’m certainly no authority on American flags but I have seen a website - THE 'CIVIL FLAG' - FORGOTTEN FLAG, OR FLAG OF FICTION? which in great detail and what seems to be credible info, debunks the civil flag as a myth.

On the other hand this author openly states “I am against this idea for several reasons” (having a civil flag). Those reasons all seem to be military orientated. When an author has a bias, it is easy enough to support that position with selective facts. For all the research and flag variants provided here, I also find it odd that no mention of the admiralty flag (gold fringed) is discussed. see GET THAT GOLD FRINGE OFF MY FLAG! & The Gold Fringed flag
