And I went looking for the Lost Horizon movie. I have sad news:
As with many films during the preview and editing stages, the studio drastically edited Capra's over-long, leisurely-paced production after screening it in Santa Barbara. When originally released in 1937, the film had a running time of 132 minutes. Over the years, nearly 25 minutes were removed, and various shortened versions of the film were reissued in re-releases. In the meantime, any remaining copies of the full-length version deteriorated. [Much of the film was restored in the 1970s-80s by putting blown-up portions of a 16mm print into deleted sections, and substituting approximately seven minutes of missing footage with production stills on top of the full 132 minute soundtrack.]
I may find a torrent of that version yet.
I respect your natural right to believe as you wish all i ask of my fellow man is that the same respect be given to me to believe on my God given right to believe in the Creator, we are all on the same journey. I think there is a way for both to be right. It is a matter of a difference of opinion. Both opinions should have equal time in the educational system which has failed miserably .. We both want the same thing i think.. "to do with as we wish", it seems only the elite can do that.. we the people can't even plant a garden without being arrested these days and it is only going to get worse. I am pretty sure sensible people of all beliefs want clean air, clean water, and clean energy. Its all upside down and there are fanatics on both sides of it.. balance would be nice, live and let live as long as we don't hurt each other and voluntary compliance, eventually if left alone without government intrusion people would do what benefits them. There will always be bad apples, patience & love and being a good example. It worked in Shangrila ..
:) ever see the movie? Lost Horizon a great flick .. i couldn't find the full film worth a look see .. ;)
I didn't write "don't use it". I wrote "is dangerous". And we disagree on locus and that's fine with me. I don't believe in genesis creation myths where Earth is given to us to do with as we please.
Didn't mean anything by the word co-exist but it seemed appropriate. A difference of opinion perhaps. An ocean sailed or a Mnt. climbed can be done without harming it, but as long as mankind has existed there have been things in nature we desire to conquer. We have had to conquer weather but have gone about it badly. The earth needs to be respected i would agree but if we worship the creation rather than the creator i think that may be even more dangerous. All things are related and there is so much we do not know about matter time &space. For now i will conquer a hill that needs to be climbed or a blizzard that i need to find a way to co-exist with or it will see me dead before the morning.. As i travel through this life i hope i may be respectful of my surrounding, we are all learning, hopefully we don't blow ourselves up and make ourselves extinct before we figure out the answers.. We have made a mess of it
The word "co-exist" is dangerous for it spells nature exists and us next to it. Earth is the true locus of authority. She will throw us off as fleas on her back if we're not careful.
As long as we have a body we are a part of nature. It is up to us to realise that and to reconnect with what was lost, instead of denying and/or trying to conquer "it" and all the peoples living within nature. Human people, animal people, plant people, rock people ...
new to me!! ....
I love this video .. I hope we find a way that makes sense to co-exist with nature because its a funny thing the earth will always win, why not co-operate with nature we could become extinct and the earth will regenerate just fine without our help when we are no longer here.. the world will still go round as long as the sun still shines and the moon gives her light.. thanks :)
Aye, I hope so too.
