An investigative report in 2010 claimed that 80% of generals retiring from 2004 to 2008 took up jobs with defense contractors. From what I have read thus far, this issue exists not just in the US but, in other countries as well. Like, for instance, in the UK in last 16 years over 3500 jobs in arms companies have been taken up by retired Senior military officers and MoD officials.
Difficult to understand how these people who seem to be so gung-ho about "patriotism" and claim to be ever ready to "die in the line of duty to protect the country from outside threats" turn a new leaf once they retire and take up jobs that are definitely not about what benefits the country and its people but are exclusively focused on profits.
