Autism can have it's advantages, as I know from personal experience. Such as, one is frequently compelled to be intensely interested in the sciences, medicine, and in building things. I remember growing up, and through my mid-twenties, if I wanted to find something out, it was a feeling like going without food, until I did find the info. The enhanced memory recall isn't to be lamented either. I had no support, unlike Mz. Grandin, so I forced myself to act like everyone else, mostly. With notable exceptions (incidents, lol).
