What a brilliant, and yes, honest, script for Jeff Daniels - seems to me, that people with the name Aaron, in the film industry (Russo) have done some good things.
BTW: I agree with CH - people can't handle the truth.

Seems to me that the soliloquy is based on a false premise. He, or I should say the screen writer, is saying that Americas greatness is measured by the acts of its govt. Nonsense! Our greatness has always been, and always will be, the beating hearts of its sovereign citizens. Now, whether there are fewer citizens aware of their sovereign status now than in times past or whether a govt not of our making is 'representing' us or citizens are not taking on the responsibilities liberty requires, is a different subject.
