Yes, but when that happens i believe you should really fear most people. People do the most crazy irrational things when feeling stressed or cornered. The countless of stories of people killing each other (brothers, best friends) over just being a little dehydrated and maybe 2 miles from nearest town but lost for days in the 'wild'.

All the war records of parents eating their own kids or own limbs out of desperation.

Seen first hand how people act and react in case of an armed bank robbery, fires, car accidents and riots and you would be amazed what people are capable to do not get hurt themselves even if it comes to 'sacrificing' a family member or best friend.

Scary stuff really so people should fear a collapse even though it's badly needed for our own sakes. We just have to act like humanoids and not neaderthals when/if it happens.

Yes, you're right ToD.....I think when people start to realize that their jobs and nations whole economy more or less are purely based on producing weapons of different sorts and making people sick via food and polluting the environment.....to then tax people for clean ups and medical bills....also make sure there's enough resources around so that people are satisfied and don't ask questions and revolt....you need ficticious enemies and wars....so you gain voters by keeping them 'safe' and at the same time create jobs......soldiers gets sick of war in many aspects or handicapped that creates jobs and money as well so that's a good thing....it also creates a sense nationalism and/or patriotism which then again makes people happy and passive.....so they want to buy senseless material goods and stuff their faces with science experiments.....that in return makes them sick...that's also good for big pharma... it stimulates the economy and job sector.....you need a lower class so you can have a big police force that can jail them og send them to wars and also a good excuse for keep raising taxes in your neighborhood....and you could go on like this for ages....

Maybe when people starts to realize their life is pretty much planned for them in advance long before they're even born. 

We could easily all change it but seems like really not that many are interested in doing so. It's too much if it involves them leaving the house or to make smaller changes in lifestyle.
