We recently collaborated with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) to create a data visualization tool that offers U.S. veterans the opportunity to document their experiences of waiting in the V.A. disabilities claim backlog. http://thewaitwecarry.org

Using only user-submitted data, the project reveals the shocking details of what these vets are experiencing. Visitors can explore and sort many aspects of the data, including the length of wait for each veteran, specific military operations, how emotionally and financially stressful the experience was, the specific injuries submitted on their claim, how their wait compares to the VA's target, and others.

In addition to providing a near-realtime look into the stories behind each of these veterans, the project has also created a valuable new database of information that is being updated daily.
