Women in basic work have the same promotional opportunity as men do up to middle management. In high level roles there's another requirement needed to retain position and advance, and that is unrelenting Ruthless Ambition. This is due to competition, high performance expectations, demand for achievement and long work hours. Women find it harder to adopt this ruthless persona as it is less likely to come naturally. Very high paid jobs are often toxic environments. Govt departments, banking and property management springs to mind as just a few of them.
