The best narrative essay is the one which caries the reader along with it, with the time and space that is being narrated in the essay. The aim of such essay writing is to convey to the readers the experience in a new and subtle manner that readers will find unique and interesting while being hooked to read the complete essay. In certain sense, it is also called a reflective essay that gives the details of any past episode, which the writer wants to recreate for the readers, while giving a new dimension to such experience.
As the essay is about the description of writer’s own experiences, therefore the selection, of an essay topic is open to the students and they can choose an experience that has left a lifelong impact on their mind.
While the following guidelines from uk-essays will help students to write good narrative essay, it is essential that they also go through the papers like an analytical essay and a book review essay to understand the skills of writing an excellent essay.
Experiences provide a lesson for us. Writing a narrative on the past or present experiences, involves recreation of the same through time and space, while carrying the reader along with it. Therefore, students should do a bit of brainstorming, to find the best experience that can be written by them in their own words, while they provide a moral or the lesson learnt from such experience. However, students can base their essay on their own experience or that of their friends.
Before writing similar essays, students should understand the importance of essay essay outline for writing an excellent paper. Accordingly, students must prepare an outline for different parts of their essay, enabling them to narrate each part in an interesting manner within the narrative essay body. However, it is essential that students understand the cohesive properties of writing any novel, play or story. Therefore, the essay subtopics as detailed in the outline page should be described in the main essay body in such a manner that one subtopic leads to another, while the complete essay transparency is maintained, all through.
Students must remember that they are transporting readers to a different time zone through their narration on a particular experience. This will be possible only when students recreate the experience or episode in such a manner, which readers find absorbing, unique and challenging. For example, narrating a certain horror scene or such personal experience can keep the readers hooked, if the details of narration are presented vividly, while maintaining the curiosity of readers at every stage.
Since every essay should have the writing style as prescribed by the appropriate college or university, therefore students must adhere to the proper essay format , while writing this essay as well. In addition, students should also familiarize themselves with the formats like APA, MLA or Harvard style.

Thank you, Raz.
Thanks for the insight, ...'Convey to reader experience in new and subtle manner that reader finds unique and interesting while being hooked to read...' - ...'Involves recreation through time and space, while carrying the reader along with it.' good descriptions. The best item I have read on site here that meets that sort of criteria would have to be Doc V.'s poem "Captain Reality IV" It's really good, If you old hands haven't read it yet, well what are you waiting for.
In my opinion, an excellent post. There is a good reason Jordan Peterson advises his students (and the public in general) to write frequently. You can't change the world for the better unless you're practiced at expressing your thoughts. I would specify to write at least half the time with a paper and pencil, or pen.
