Africa: Zimbabwean Miners Picks Fight with Chinese Colonizers over Disputed Mining Rights

Zimbabwe: Chinese Nationals Severely Injured Fighting Artisanal Miners

11 FEBRUARY 2021

Mutasa South — Four Chinese nationals working under the controversial Zhong Jian mining company sustained severe injuries this week after they were attacked by artisanal gold miners over mining rights dispute.

The incident occurred at Premier Estates, a gold-rich area in Mutasa.

One of the Chinese is reported to have sustained broken ribs while the other one lost a finger as he tried to block his face from a shovel attack.

The irate artisanal miners, popularly known as Makorokoza, are reported to have used an assortment of mining tools including crowbars, picks and shovels to attack the Chinese nationals.

A local environmental rights group Centre for Natural Resources Governance (CNRG) confirmed the incident and said the condition of the two other Chinese nationals was unknown.

Ha yes well this is what you get left with when you boot out your white colonisers -( who take a fancy to farming food crops and high quality tobacco that provide nourishment and employment for all ) You are left with new colonisers who quickly enter into less favourable industries (provide nothing and take your most valuable resources away.) It's sad and ironic to think that the people now beg the white farmers to return after all the hatred they dished out and they now fight off the Chinese for specs of gold in order to survive from starving. It does not look like many farmers returned there finding new opportunities in Australia.
