I saw this yesterday and it bothered me for a few minutes until I realized what it was. It's one of the oldest forms of political glad handing- a cheap ploy to temporarily neutralize anyone who might spoil the deal. There's a real threat that the Russians could do or say something that would damage or embarrass Obama before the election, so the move is to try to entice them to believe that if they help him cover his ass for a few months they'll be rewarded. And yes, he probably believes they will fall for it.
A very significant confirmation of this was today's news about Romney saying that he considers the Russians to be the #1 threat to the US.
The political sock puppet show- Obama tells the Russians "hey, cover my ass for a few months and I'll take care of you..." and Romney the "rival" says "I'll bomb those Russians if I'm elected!" So the Russians are expected to fall for the set up- keep the heat off for a few months and reap the benefits King Obama will bestow, and fear the mighty evil Romney.Two hands of the same puppet master.
Absurd puppet theatre- I'm trusting that the Russians aren't naive and won't fall for this nonsense.

Interesting Hollywood, yeah we don't need another 4 years of Obamaten, strange how he has that name and Akhenaten lol :P, he thinks hes King Tutankamun, which I believe is possible and given the times.
