Early TSA Practices Exposed!

Submitted by Lois Rain on July 16, 2011 – 9:15 pmNo Comment

Andy, what happened? I only thought that more power and control would protect our towns – I never intended for any of this!

The clip might seem like a disappointing gag but it highlights the absurd no-common sense approach the TSA takes in finding those terrorists. And how many terrorists did Barney and the TSA find?

In fact, just like the bumbling Fife, TSA measures have lead to many security breaches; at least 25,000 according to a recent CNN report.

And didn’t the TSA announce their intentions last month to stop groping children without reasonable cause? Yet, news stories continue to surface showing the exact opposite. That was only a pat on the head to pacify the angry public.

Kirkland 6-year-old patted down by TSA agents

A Kirkland family has filed a complaint claiming their 6-year-old son was singled out by TSA for a hand-search. KING 5’s Tonya Mosley has the story. view full article

What’s in their pants, lately? I-pads… Isn’t that the slippery slope people complained about in the beginning. Stealing? Selling the loot to further line the coffers? Maybe we should show up with X-ray glasses and stare at their parts.

In the early days of TSA searches involving merely confiscation of items containing more than 3 ounces of liquids, a grandmother witnessed the seizure of her gourmet pickles intended as a gift to her son. Exasperated, she said “I hope you at least enjoy them!” The searcher replied, “Oh no, ma’am, we won’t be doing anything with this.”

I guess she can pay again to buy them back from the TSA, er…state government surplus stores. But these items weren’t confiscated. According to TSA spokespeople and government surplus store clerks, they were left behind or “willfully surrendered.”

Lastly, the first video reminds us that we have been groomed for generations by television to accept invasive probes, the “sacrifice” for freedom’s sake.

One TV example focused on public school searches and security scanners. ABC Family Channel’s Ten Things I Hate About You featured a main character depicted as a bleeding heart, tree hugging activist who opposed the new security measures.

How did she rally students on her side? By striking the mandatory school uniforms chord. She gets threatened with suspension for standing up. Her father tells her to look at the “big picture” and that she’s “an idiot” to consider throwing her life away (college future) for one measly issue. So she compromises her values and backs down. Her ditzy, popular sister refers to the Constitution as an old boring paper that doesn’t mean anything anymore.

Later, a male character refuses to have his backpack searched after a scary (but just dopey enough to seem friendly) security guard yanks his bag out of his locker. When the student grabs it back the guard reaches for something on his hip.

This is just one example of TV grooming targeted at younger viewers to get everyone used to the idea that the Fourth Amendment and privacy do not exist, that the “authorities” do not serve the public but vice versa.

What TV depictions of “training” have you witnessed lately?
