MINOT AIR FORCE BASE The men and women of the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base became part of Air Force Global Strike Command Tuesday. But the official ceremony for the event was delayed because of the weather.

Lt. Gen. Frank G. Klotz, commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, was scheduled to be at the Minot base Tuesday to unveil the Global Strike Command emblem on the missile wing headquarters building and meet with airmen and local media, but his aircraft couldn't land because of the crosswinds as they were Tuesday, base officials said.

The official ceremonies for the missile wings at F.E. Warren AFB in Wyoming and then at Malmstrom AFB in Montana took place Tuesday as scheduled with the general, said Maj. Richard Komurek, with 8th Air Force Public Affairs at Barksdale AFB, La., also headquarters for Global Strike Command.

The ceremonies at Minot AFB are planned for today.

Global Strike Command is the Air Force's newest major command and will oversee all of its nuclear forces.

The nuclear-capable assets the intercontinental ballistic missiles of Air Force Space Command now come under Global Strike Command as of Tuesday. Air Combat Command's nuclear-capable assets bombers, which include the 5th Bomb Wing and its B-52s at Minot AFB come under Global Strike Command Feb. 1.
