Monkey meat and painted olives top Interpol’s fake food seizure list

By

Lifestyle and Special Projects Reporter  Global News

Care for an Italian olive painted with copper sulphate solution? How about some Sudanese sugar sprinkled with fertilizer? Those are just a couple of the “menu items” on Interpol’s annual list of toxic and counterfeit food seized by police agencies around the world.

This year, a record 10,000 tonnes of fake food and drink was seized across 57 countries. In one case, more than 310,000 illegal food products were discovered hidden behind piles of tiles in a Malaysian warehouse.

I like monkey meat. I've eaten it in Africa, the Philippine Islands, and SE Asia mainland. It is good. After reading the article I was unimpressed. This is old news to people the care about their health (look at olive oil for example). And it always seems to get back to 'eat what you raise and grow', or that someone you trust raises and grows. Imported food was for the rich since they were the only people that could afford it. And then - transportation made it so large profit could be made by selling to the masses so we could ALL feel 'rich'. The simple fact that profit is involved made it a dangerous food that has devolved direct to deceitful and dangerous behavior on the part of suppliers - slavery labor, profit over quality/honesty, etc.

In fact, there are MILLIONS, maybe BILLIONS of tons of polluted, GMOed, chemical filled profit filled, nutrition devoid, phake phood-like substances forced on the country of the united Stated of America every day. But I wonder how many people actually care about that.
