David Hogg is one happy fascist today. His gun-grabbing kiddie brigade won a stamp towards an ice cream and pizza party today by forcing Publix to cave to their online mob harassment.
From the Hill:
Publix announced Friday that it suspended its political contributions as it faces scrutiny for donating to Adam Putnam, a Florida Republican who is pro-gun rights and is running for governor.
“We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve,’’ Publix spokesman Dwaine Stevens said in a statement obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. “As a result, we decided earlier this week to suspend corporate-funded political contributions as we reevaluate our giving processes.’’
The supermarket chain’s announcement arrived in the middle of “die-in” protests led by Parkland, Fla., shooting survivor David Hogg at two Publix locations in Florida.
This is very easy. An online social media mob looks a lot bigger than it actually is, but corporations don’t know that, and freak out at the first sign of a protest. And if idiot kids are protesting at your stores, you have them arrested. Easy-peasy. Unfortunately, I’m a rando Latino blogger and not the the CEO of Publix, so it’s not gonna work out for the good guys this time.
“We regret that some of our political contributions have led to an unintentional customer divide instead of our desire to support a growing economy in Florida,” a Publix spokesperson said in the statement. “As a result of this situation, we are evaluating our processes to ensure that our giving better reflects our intended desire to support a strong economy and a healthy community.”
Hogg is backing down on his protests after winning the concession from Publix:

BREAKING: @Publix suspends corporate funded political contributions after coming under fire for giving money to gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam. Planned “die-in” protest is now cancelled. @nbc6

He must have figured out that he looked like a ginormous a-hole after demanding Laura Ingraham apologize, and then not accepting her apology when she caved.
In any case, thanks to Publix not understanding how social media works, the fascist kiddie brigade is happy today.

When David Hogg successfully bullied an employee-owned supermarket chain into suspending future contributions to political candidates like Adam Putnam — a proud NRA member running for governor in Florida — he thought he had “won.”
“Together we can do anything. Together the young people will win by choosing love,” the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting survivor tweeted Friday evening, shortly after the Publix supermarket chain capitulated to his demands.
Hogg and his supporters had spent all of Friday afternoon and early evening protesting at Publix stores across the state in an attempt to pressure the largest employee-owned grocery chain in America to stop supporting Putnam.
“Anyone who supports an NRA sellout is an NRA sellout. That is why I am calling on everyone to stop shopping at Publix until they pull their endorsement of Putnam publicly. Publix is supporting the inaction after pulse, strozier, Douglas, liberty city. Don’t support an NRA sellout,” he had tweeted to his followers earlier in the week.
And unfortunately, his plan worked … kind of.
“We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve. As a result, we decided earlier this week to suspend corporate-funded political contributions as we re-evaluate our giving processes,” Publix announced Friday.
Notice that the store didn’t say it was suspending just its political contributions to Putnam. Publix make it clear it would be suspending all of its “corporate-funded political contributions.”
There’s just one big problem with that: The supermarket chain has a record of also contributing to left-wing political organizations including the YWCA, which is a member of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and which supports same-sex marriage.
Publix has also previously contributed to United Way chapters and the Susan G. Komen foundation, both of which are vocal supporters of Planned Parenthood.
According to campaign finance records maintained by OpenSecrets.org, the supermarket chain has also donated to six House Democrats and a whopping 13 Senate Democrats this election cycle alone, including feminist Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kristen Gillibrand.
But apparently these left-wing politicians won’t be receiving anymore more, all thanks to Little Hogg. Whoopsie daisy!
It’s called the law of unintended consequences, and it’s known to sneak up on arrogant young brats who think they think they’re all that and a bag of chips!
