Want to know how this whole thing got started? It just might be because New York Senator Chuck Schumer almost ate a Tide Pod once, thinking it was candy.
Emily Zanotti of the Daily Wire reports that he started his crusade against the popular laundry detergent packets in 2012 when he saw one on his aide's desk. It was a close call, friends. Or, as he said:
