James, is this to be a new way of sharing.?

I have used them as a safe research system.  Please let us know when we can use Start Mail for an "email home."

Nice, hope they offer up some good features like video sharing via email, not via youtube and crap. Maximize the email embed file size to like 2 GB and deploy some FFMPEG tech to compress the videos. Store files over 100 MB on a fileserver for fast streaming embed from emails. Just needs a couple security tokens to keep the viewing private.

Also we need customizable folders to stay organized. Perhaps a nice calendar. Obviously a nice interface to pack in a bunch of nice features. Auto rule creation, like if a subject is 90% similar, follow the rule, same for email from_address. Stuff like, all from this [thing] goes to this [place]. Organization. Fast and impromtu 1 time use rules. Create logical default folders for people -> personal emails, work emails, financial emails, website notification emails, appointment emails.

People get a fuck ton of email these days, many people get well over 100, and many people want all 100 of those emails and need tools to help keep it organized, save time, etc.

Do it, do it big, do it right.

Has anyone verified this to be safe ?
it could be another government set up.
don't get me wrong, I'm all about security but these days there is no security.
it sounds good but without knowing startmail could read our mail as well. If anyone can verify it's safety I'm all for it.

Its pretty much as safe as you can get for {web}mail. When you use a locally installed client with end to end encryption, its a bit safer  =p

I think currently, the terms of service protects your privacy rights with them, but that does not protect you from government tapping the lines.

??? start of someSTINGs better... BETA... why knot, I'm in...

Based in the Netherlands ... has real IP ... can be subpoenaed!! Not the most private email in the world by a long shot.  If the US/EU govt wants something they can easily get the Netherlands to demand it legally and they will hand over everything. Also I'm sure they could just sniff the ISP the email servers are connected to and bypass the legal system altogether.

http://tormail.org/ the dot org only serves as a floor mat for the link to the functional site http://jhiwjjlqpyawmpjx.onion/ Visit with the tor browser bundle.

There are other .onion email services out there as well. No IP to serve papers to or sniff with encrypted .onion site, read up on it.

Also use http://www.gpg4win.org/ for windows, if you have linux you already know the deal.

ya, ignore the babble speak, this thing is solid, private encrypted and non tracking

It's better than most but there are flaws. They can be forced to hand over an IP connected to a particular email account. They can be forced to hand over their private SSL key thus unencrypting the connection between them and you. In that case your password becomes government knowledge. Getting the SSL key may not even be necessary if they keep the private key, look for a 'forgot password' link if they have it they have the private key! Also if government sniffs the traffic at the ISP level the emails incoming to their servers if not intentionally encrypted by the sender the emails are hitting the Start Mail servers in the clear (readable). Just pointing things out here. Having an IP means the ability to be attacked by govt.

Depending on who you are Start Mail is great but don't think it's something it's not. If they don't maintain the private keys and are Tor friendly they WILL be popular!
