As more revelations surface regarding the U.S. government's role in attempting regime change in Ukraine, Russia has put its military on high alert.

In the U.S., political opponents of President Obama are using Ukraine to make the point that Russia's Putin must be 'stood up to' and dealt with in a tough manner.

The President Obama Administration responded by ordering the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to dump 5 million barrels of oil on the open market to push down the price of oil, Russia's main commodity that it sells to the world.

Russia viewed that action as an attack on its economy and it transferred more than $100 billion U.S. Treasuries out of the Federal Reserve so that it can dump these Treasuries on the market when it decides.
