Swedish authorities has received 300 complaints about election fraud
There has been suspicion that mistakes has been made and cheating has occurred several places in Sweden during Sunday's election to the Riksdag.
The news agency NTB writes:
In the interim it's unclear whether there are grounds in
the suspicions, but the Riksdag's control authority, Valprövningsnämnden (VPN), has received about 300 complaints.
Says Cecilia Persson from VPN.
"Most people are talking about the parliamentary elections, but we have not been able to review them all yet," she states to the Swedish SVT about the complaints.
Several of them are members of political parties who have followed voters inside the polling stations and ballot boxes and helped them to vote.
According to Dagens Nyheter, several cases have been reported to the police. In both in Värmland and in the municipality of Degerfors there may potentially be re-elections, the newspaper continues.
The municipality of Degerfors has filed charges against two local politicians for "unnecessary election impact". One of them has offered money in exchange for votes.
In about two weeks from now, the Valproövningsnämnd has reviewed all cases.
Meanwhile, the Swedish election authority must count towards a final election result based on the votes cast.
Wednesday, the count of late received votes as well as votes from Swedes living abroad continued.
It's a extremely equal fight for mandates. A mandate has thus moved back and forth between the Center Party and the Swedish Democrats several times.
So far, the red-green parties have a narrow lead in one or two mandates in front of the bourgeois parties in the Alliance, the name of the blue block.
Over the past few days, more errors have been discovered in counting and registration of votes. Wednesday it became known that 1,100 votes from a constituency in the municipality of Höganäs had been mistakenly registered.
Here, votes cast in the regional elections were included in the outcome of the parliamentary elections. Something similar had happened in a district in Västra Götaland.
According to the Swedish election authority, the failure in Höganäs does not affect the overall election result.
