The First Coast Tea Party has done our job regarding healthcare reform. We held rallys, wrote our Congressmen, visited their offices, met with their staff, held our own Town Hall, informed our database about the issue and ultimately we participated with nearly 1.7 million other tea party patriots as we Walked on Washington just two weeks ago. When we came to DC, they quickly exited and then arrogantly failed to acknowledge we were there and they stated our numbers were miniscule.

As the Senate Finance Committee reports back to work Tuesday, we want them to get a loud and clear message and we need your help.

A little background information first

Last week, many Republicans offered up ideas and tried to negotiate with the Democrats in the Committee. As always is the case, the Democrats said No. See a copy of a Wall Street Journal article explaining some of the shenanigans. See WSJ Article. A couple of items that really hit a nerve and should be a simple "Yes" are noted below:

Post Bill on Internet: Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee threw out an amendment by Sen. Bunning that would have required Baucus' bill to be posted on the Internet so all of us could read it prior to the Committee voting on it. Democrats voted NO.

Post Costs of Bill: The amendment also required the CBO to give us an official tally of the real costs associated with this bill before they vote on it. Again, Democrats voted NO.

Individual Mandate -- Go to Jail: If you choose to forego paying for healthcare insurance, you can Pass Go and Go directly to Jail!! We are not making this up. It is a done deal in this committee. See for yourself at Go to Jail Keep in mind, this is Un-Constitutional and a direct intrusion into our personal lives by the US Government.

We do not believe fair negotiations are taking place and big causes of the healthcare crisis are not even being discussed - such as, Tort Reform. Democrats are still pushing for Government-Run Healthcare which is an absolute deal breaker. We the People have had enough and demand leadership instead of the same "Ole Time Politics." Therefore, we believe it is time for Republicans in the Senate Finance Committee to take a stand and...

WALK OUT NOW!

They have the right to do so according to Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure for the Senate Finance Committee. It reads: "Rule 4. Quorums. - (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) one-third of the membership of the committee, including not less than one member of the majority party and one member of the minority party, shall constitute a quorum for the conduct of business."

ACTION ITEMS FOR YOU, We the People

We need you to encourage the Republicans to Walk Out Now and send a message to Democrats to vote NO now. Here's how you can do that:

Print out the attached two documents (one for Democrats & one for Republicans) and fill in the blanks. Let it be known forms
Get your fax machine in high gear and send it to the Committee members now. They are planning to vote Tuesday when they return so let's get busy.
Call them as well and let them know you expect nothing less than a NO vote from Democrats and a Walk Out Now for the Republicans. You can reach them at the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.
We are living in serious times and way too much legislation is being passed that will forever change America and our way of life. It is time to stop this insanity and it is time for you to act.
