The Internet Was An Organized Scam From The Start- The Copyright Terrorists and the SOPA Bill

The Internet Was An Organized Scam From The Start- by Russell S.Wyllie

Think back to when the internet started becoming easier to download and upload material. It was a time when little could be done about stopping individuals from hosting content and starting websites that provides links to illegal sites. It's been going on for over a decade. So ask yourself this question- why wasn't illegal file sharing stopped right from the start?

Here's a theory that makes business sense:
Firstly let's pretend you have a massive company like Universal, Warner Bros or Activision. As Director and Committee you are fully aware that profits will drop if people stop purchasing from shops and download- but for now you allow the World internet audience to click on and download movies, music, games and books for example. Allow it to happen for a number of years, and then when enough data has been clicked on, downloaded and re-uploaded, you then demand the data results from internet service providers across the World. It is at that point that the data handed over by ISP's reveals just what kind of movies, music, games and books are the most popular...

The 3 companies Universal, Warner Bros and Activision could then estimate how much money can be made by focusing on specific movies, actors, games producers, music artists etc. The World has done these big companies one great big favour- advertising their products across the World like no poster campaign could ever compete with. The big companies now know which countries like specific material, which major cities have the most downloaders, and so making future product advertising, promotion and distribution more profittable for those big companies. Is this their game?

Has the whole World done the homework for the major film, music and entertainment companies, handing the silver platter to them so that future generations can be ripped off more efficiently in the future? Perhaps vampire movies are the most popular in New York? Perhaps rock music is number one choice in Moscow? Perhaps shoot-em-ups are most downloaded in London?  Now that we have provided the internet traffic figures to our ISP's, our ISP's might now have to close down the file sharing sites, or at least block them, and re-direct Google search entries such as 'free movie downloads' to Amazon or Blockbuster for example. Google themseleves could supply (sell) the search and download results to the big industries, working in collaboration as information gatherers to give to the big companies at a later date.

There's more to it than this. Shares in big companies start to decrease when their profits are downloaded.
If the H.R 3261 SOPA bill is passed then you will see those big companies rake in far more profit than ever before, and share prices will increase, making more money for the exec's.  They couldn't be happy with $10 million dollars per exec each year, they want the extra 0.1 million...even the change out of your pocket. Make that the change out of your grandchildren's pockets...because what the World has been suckered into was being the advertiser, the promoter and distributer of downloadable online products, and have given the big companies and their executives the data needed to target the audience, current and future.

I doubt very seriously that the big companies would have overlooked all the data revealed from over a decade of clicking, downloading and uploading of copyrighted material, and we really have played it straight into their hands...yet again. We the public are being scammed by dodgy salespeople on the end of a phoneline, or by Ebay sellers who sell Kindles for 20 pounds then disappear without a trace without posting Kindles to hundreds of buyers for example.  Ever got an email from your bank saying login and verify your account or your account will be suspended? Ever bought a cheap fancy-looking designer cigarette lighter from a local market then had it stop igniting one day later???  Well today we have woken up to find we have been part of a scam by the entertainment industries themselves. At any point the entertainment industries could have told ISP's to stop allowing customers from downloading and uploading copyrighted material with threats of massive lawsuits again and again, but more money was envisaged to be made by getting the World to be the happy clicker...and then slap the World in the face with a big 'HA HA- we got you to advertise for us...'

So now the entertainment industries know our viewing and listening habits, our most liked computer game producers, and so capitalizing on those few most liked forms of entertainment will be as easy as pie.
Our kids and grandchildren will grow up hearing of a time when entertainment was more free. Our kids and grandchildren will grow up being targetted by the industries more easily because the industries know which cities and countries the traffic will sell to, what appeals to the human race the most. Many people saved hundreds of bucks on a few movies and cd's by downloading, and the future generations will be a few hundred or thousand bucks less rich as they line the pockets of the uber-rich executives, the biggest film stars and biggest music artists.

But wait -there's a hell lot more... Think about the actual financial income that piracy brings. Many millions of people will now not have an income, and I doubt in today's economic climate that many will get an honest paying job that pays as good as premium paying downloaders.
Crime in general will go through the roof because those in piracy will want to make their money...expect more coke and guns to be available next door to your kindergarten and high school, because the pirates know that kids are the biggest buyers of entertainment- and drugs are a form of entertainment, and without free computer games kids will want guns and knives to play with.
Is this a good way for things to go? More crime, people getting mugged, robbed, killed, young girls and adults being pulled into the pirate's newly-created sex industry labels??? Because millions of pirates will want to make money somehow, and their premium paying downloaders will be buying from Amazon from now on!

You might be able to buy some illegal DVD's and CD's from a private seller in some car boot sale, but it won't be like the good 'ole days...And the future generations will know that they are the donkeys being ridden all the way to market with a carrot in front of them. Life will become very dull for so many- to the point of desperation, because so people who built an income from piracy will have nothing, and will either have to join a food queue, end up on the street, committing a crime, going to jail or checking out independently (suicide).

So all thanks to the greed of the executives in the industries, people will have to suffer unemployment, food queues, homelessness,a life of harder crimes, jail time, suicide, drug habit increasing and general boredom. Meanwhile, in stark contrast the rich get richer (and fatter), the shareholders get more returns, more champagne and caviar, more big houses (meaning less housing for poorer, harder working people)...
I hold my breath and wait for the chaos to erupt, for the riots to start up again. Like we saw across Britain by thousands of kids and people who can't afford to buy a humble movie, or their favourite music CD.
Perhaps you'll catch the opening of a riot at a cinema near you...

I also could point out that Third World countries will have even less free content to enjoy-their lives will become very miserable, with incomes reduced dramatically.

And also think of the millions of people who previously enjoyed free content to relieve their boring unemployed day...Many more young men will not find work, will not have free on-line content and will probably end up joining the military as a way to escape the boredom...Another big downer for the future of society.
