Ex-CIA contractor, Edward Snowden, has not been seen aboard the plane to Havana on which he would reportedly be traveling, reports RT’s correspondent on the flight. The plane has already departed from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.

The Russian airline Aeroflot previously confirmed that Snowden had checked in for flight SU150 to Havana with two seats (17A and 17C) in his name. However, journalists on board the plane said there was no sign of him.

The White House on Monday called on Russian authorities to expel former defense contractor Edward Snowden, who is responsible for leaking information about top secret National Security Agency surveillance programs, after he fled to Moscow from Hong Kong to avoid extradition.

The Pursuit of Edward Snowden: Washington in a Rage, Striving to Ru...

By Norman Solomon.

Rarely has any American provoked such fury in Washington’s high places. So far, Edward Snowden has outsmarted the smartest guys in the echo chamber -- and he has proceeded with the kind of moral clarity that U.S. officials seem to find unfathomable.

 "">U.S.
revokes NSA leaker Snowden's passport
23 Jun 2013 The former
National Security Agency contractor who disclosed a highly classified
surveillance program has had his U.S. passport revoked, an official said Sunday.
Edward Snowden's passport was annulled before he left Hong Kong for Russia and
while that could complicate his travel plans, the lack of a passport alone could
not thwart his plans, the U.S. official said. If a senior official in another
country or with an airline orders it, a country could overlook the withdrawn
passport, the official said.

">Wikileaks:
'History will judge Snowden as a hero'
23 Jun 2013 Edward Snowden,
the former US intelligence contractor wanted by Washington on espionage charges,
is spending the night at an airport in Moscow after arriving from Hong Kong.
Ecuador's foreign minister has confirmed Mr Snowden's request for asylum.
Wikileaks has made it clear that it has been helping Mr Snowden and its
spokesman, Kristinn Hrafnsson, told the BBC he believed the fugitive would
eventually be recognised as a hero.

Putin: Snowden still in Moscow airport transit zone, won't be extradited
June 25, 2013
http://rt.com/news/putin-snowden-moscow-extradition-220/

Russian President says that former NSA contractor Edward Snowden is still in the transit zone of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport. Vladimir Putin says that any accusations of Russia related to Snowden are 'nonsense'.

Speaking to journalists in Finland, Putin said that there is no extradition treaty between Russia and the US.  He also said that Snowden did not commit any crime on the territory of Russia.

"Snowden is a free person. The sooner he chooses his final destination, the better it is  for him and Russia," Putin said.

He also expressed hope that the Snowden saga would not have any effect on business relations  between Russia and the US.

News: Edward Snowden Says He Sought Booz Allen Hamilton Job To Gather NSA Surveillance Evidence

Snowden, the former government contractor who leaked information on the National Security Agency's surveillance programs, says he sought the job with Booz Allen Hamilton to gather evidence on the agency's data collection networks.

In a June 12 interview with the South China Morning Post published Monday, Snowden, who previously worked as a CIA technician, said he took the position with the intention of collecting information on the NSA.

“My position with Booz Allen Hamilton granted me access to lists of machines all over the world the NSA hacked,” he said. “That is why I accepted that position about three months ago.”

Why Snowden Asked Visitors in Hong Kong to Refrigerate Their Phones

Wednesday, June 26, 2013 12:02 PM

Before a dinner of pizza and fried chicken late Sunday in Hong Kong, Edward J. Snowden insisted that a group of lawyers advising him in the Chinese territory “hide their cellphones in the refrigerator of the home where he was staying, to block any eavesdropping,” as my colleague Keith Bradsher reported.

Why a refrigerator? The answer does not, as some might assume, have anything to do with temperature. In fact, it does not matter particularly if the refrigerator was plugged in. It is the materials that make up refrigerator walls that could potentially turn them into anti-eavesdropping devices.

BLACKOUT: DOD Blocks All Articles About NSA Leaks From 'MILLIONS' Of Computers

By STEVEN NELSON
June 28, 2013

The Department of Defense is blocking online access to news reports about classified National Security Agency documents made public by Edward Snowden. The blackout affects all of the department's computers and is part of a department-wide directive.

"Any website that runs information that the Department of Defense still considers classified" is affected, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Damien Pickart told U.S. News in a phone interview.

According to Pickart, news websites that re-report information first published by The Guardian or other primary sources are also affected.

Edward Snowden's father says whistleblower may return to US if cond...

The father of NSA leaker Edward Snowden has said that he believes his son would be willing to return to the US to face trial if the American government agreed to meet a number of conditions.

Lon also voiced concern that his son was being exploited by Wikileaks, which offered legal assistance to the 30-year-old after founder Julian Assange intervened publicly in the case from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

"I don't want to put him in peril, but I am concerned about those who surround him," he said. "I think Wikileaks, if you've looked at past history, you know, their focus isn't necessarily the constitution of the United States. It's simply to release as much information as possible."

The Justice Department is yet to comment on the suggestion, which comes hours after the government of Ecuador renounced its trade agreements with the US.
