On August 25th, independent journalist, blogger, and activist Dan Kellar was arrested for a blog post he made two days earlier in which he named and provided a photo of a man he claimed to be an undercover police officer involved in infiltrating G20 protest groups and encouraged readers to "spit in his footsteps and scoff at his existence".

The post on Kellar's blog peaceculture.org reported a sighting of the man in Toronto, and spoke about in a derogatory fashion. It also named a woman widely believed in activist circles as having been an undercover police infiltrator. The post was removed from the site as a condition of Kellar's release. He is also to stay at least 500 metres away from the two people who were named in his post.

Kellar was pulled over and arrested by the OPP's Anti-Rackets Branch, while driving in, Kitchener, Ontario, where he lives. According to a press release put out by the Community Solidarity Network (CSN), the same branch of the OPP was involved in arresting several people on G20 related charges, six of whom were members of the group Anti-War at Laurier (AW@L), a group that Kellar is also a member of.

Blogger Activist Arrested For Exposing Undercover Cops

Activist and blogger Dan Kellar was arrested on August 25th for exposing undercover cops on his blog. I’m not going to cover the whole store, Tim Groves at Toronto Media Co-op did a fine job of that. RCMP then threatened to arrest anyone who mirrors his site. Thank’s to Google’s cache of the post (original now deleted) I’ve attached a screenshot of his site along with the original image and text.

Please note: I do not know if these statements are true. I am not encouraging harm to anyone. I’m mirroring it in the interest of free speech.

Suspected police agent and screw-rat infiltrator, the so-called “Khalid Mohammed” spotted in toronto.

It has been reported that the piece of trash that infiltrated AW@L and other organisations in southern ontario prior to the anti-olympic convergence in vancouver, and the counter G20 convergence in #toronto in 2010, was spotted in a public place in toronto last week (mid-august 2011) and apparently still reeks of cold-hearted deception.

If you see this piece of filth, spit in his foot steps and scoff at his existence. Garbage like him, so-called “Brenda Doherty” and the other infiltrators, snitches, the violent police force they work for, or the vile system they uphold, have no place in peaceful communities.

Our Resolve is Strong.
We are rooting out their rats.
Watch Our Numbers Swell.

Interview with Dan Kellar: Independent Journalist Arrested for a Blog Post

"If we know the information, we gotta keep spreading it" - Dan Kellar, arrested for a blog post about undercover police.

CKUT spoke recently with independent journalist and activist Dan Kellar, who also works with the anti-war group AW@L in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Kellar was arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last thursday for posting information about undercover police agents on his blog, PeaceCulture.org. CKUT's Aaron Lakoff spoke with Kellar on the phone about the arrest, undercover police and police repression, and media freedoms. Kellar also added that despite the fact that the blog post has been taken down due to his bail conditions, people might still be able to see the post using Google cache. Officers involved in the case have threatened to arrest others, independent journalists included, who repost the original blog post.
