Oddly enough...no one is talking about tactics? Why is that?

If you want real practice (using tactics), play paintball. It's not a poor man's sport but it's a lot less painful when you get hit. Make no mistake-- wear thick clothing and goggles. I would be lying if I said that at close quarters the paint pellets don't hurt. MUCH better than a lead slug though :)

Ideally, you want to play on a more adult play field. Places that allow children to play generally disallow firing "blind". Firing blind may be expensive or....crazy? if you're low on ammo....but....

Imagine rushing in the open through enemy fire like some dumbass 2nd Lt. and throwing yourself behind a crate not quite big enough to completely hide you....and you're ruled ALIVE! Now imagine not being able to simply hold your weapon (only) over the crate and being able to spray the enemy with fire from a much better position-- because some lawyer thinks a kid is too stupid to understand why he should keep his head down when he's getting shot at.

There are places @ where I live that allow full on adult combat with paint ball guns.
Messy, painful, but f---ing a blast.

You can also use soft air guns, the ones with metal gear boxes.
Wear the same personal safety gear, including a pair of very thick pants, or wear a couple of layers. Some of these guns will produce velocities of 700+fps. The pellets are the size of a pea. Talk about stinging.
Although you cant freeze them like you can paintballs (to increase the pain factor).

Then again if you belong to a range that has IDPA, that is really good practice at timed target shooting, usually metal sillouette as well as your share of tactical reloads, and malfunction clearing scenarios ect.
